Bo with her red P Plates and Ash with her Green P’s
For international’s who have no idea what I’m taking about:
Here in Oz, new drivers have the honor {or debasement… however you want to look at it} of sticking a gigantic red or green P to their car. This lets other drivers to undoubtedly know:
- that they are a new … or newish …. drivers
- that they are young, cool, hip and good looking or
- to give them plenty of space on the road even if it means using the footpath to be safter.
Fly free my babies but avoid the ouchies, k?!
Congratulations…be safe!
yay! big step…and so glad you explained the p's…lol.
Congrats to your girls! How excited they must be!
I'm glad you explained the "P" also.
We need something like that over here (USA)…
Congratulations, girls. Stay safe and enjoy your newly-found privileges.
Smiles from Jackie
Thanks for explaining. How wise and humble of the girls to go with the option of displaying the p's. Congratulations to them!
Sande, I am sorry I haven't mailed you a copy of my book yet (that you won!). I misplaced your address. Would you email it to me again?
Thanks,
Warren
Oh, MY! I remember these times!
Things have changed SO much since my dad SENT me to Driver's Ed in a car and told me to learn on the way!!!!!!
That was in 1970.
Blessings, and Merry Christmas.
I've so enjoyed your blog this month.

Ah I know the feeling of getting your Ps…only got my greens in Nov. My first visit to your blog and I must say kudos to you for blogging with 10 kids! Awesome work! Don't know how you do it… 🙂
You are SO in trouble!
Do you see how beautiful they are?
WOO HOO!
Beautiful girls!
Maybe I am slow but does the "P" stand for anything? I understand what it means I am just trying to figure out "why the letter P?"
Practice? Precaution?
We are in FL and new drivers have NOTHING but the license and man I tell you–having a 15 year old figuring out the system with big pick up trucks behind him honking I was tempted to put a "student driver" sign on the car so people would have…. {Epiphany moment} the P tells other drivers to have
PATIENCE!
They are gorgeous! Like someone else said, I'd love to see a warning system like this in the US. 🙂
Your girls look like they should be in a magazine somewhere. God has certainly blessed you with gorgeous kids.
Nice that the drivers get a friendly warning, wish we had that here. The only clue we get is the blasting loud music that can be heard a mile away.
Merry Christmas!
Thanks for the explanation …. be safe as you try your wings.
How funny! Not such a bad idea… maybe we should have that on cars here in the US as well. I think it's pretty smart.
Glad you gave the explanation. Sounds like a great idea!
Your girls are both gorgeous!
How fun and brave you are momma! If I was to use this same post title…it would mean something totally different…cause I live way out west…and I am in a different season of life…as my little guys won't be behind the steering wheel for quite awhile yet!
Congratulations to your beautiful girls! Great idea on the sticker system. We sure need something like that in the states.
Have a very, Merry Christmas!
Eck! I know you are probably still numb!
I love the idea of a sticker on the car identifying they are new and inexperienced drivers. I wish they did that in Texas.
Merry Christmas Sande!
Eeeep! But congrats!!
(They're both gorgeous, too!)
Hi, girl friend.
I am stopping by to let you know that I am tagging you at my blog.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas!
Kat
Your daughters are simply gorgeous!!!! Double trouble 😉 Congratulations to them both!!! And to you, their beautiful mom!!! Merry Christmas, dearest Sande!!!! Love you!!! Janine XO
Beautiful girls! I know exactly what you mean about them growing up..a passage that no parent really looks forward to is the new drivers license. I think that both your girls fall into that second category for sure!
Merry Christmas to you and your wonderful family!
What a good idea these P's are! I'm going to make some for my son's car right now even if nobody knows what they mean. I've got 18 months to go…help.
Stopping by to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas!
The P's are a great idea. We could use something similar in the States. They look awfully happy to get their P's!
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas, dear Sande…Sending you much, much love!!! Janine XO
I didn't know that! P's! I wish we did that here in the states. Too fun. Good luck to the girls!
Whew! Thanks for explaining that! That is not a bad idea. Maybe the U.S. should look into doing the same.
Hello, dearest Sande…Shhh…I'm not supposed to be out…supposed to be home 😉 Please don't tell on me…I'm sneaking…vewy, vewy quietly…tip-toeing, in fact…sliding in here to see my dear Aussie friend…sigh…sipping tea…looking out over your beautiful fields, hearing the children laugh…and being just sooooo happy to know my friend is doing well…and enjoying her week off the 'puter 😉 Hope you had the most beautiful Christmas ever!! Love you…but must go home now… 🙁 Big, big hugs, Janine xx
Sandra,
What a thrill to meet you! Do I understand that you have 10 children!! Oh my, I can't imagine anything cooler!! And I, for one, think the P's are PERFECT!!! I wish my 21 year old STILL had one :)!
How did you get to my blog??
Really? Who knew? I love the idea! Your girls are STUNNING!
Happy Happy New Year!!! Praying we have an awesome 2010!!
Congrats to them! I've never heard of this "P" system. Very interesting and a good idea. I hope they enjoy driving and stay safe.
